October 2007 Review

Writing News

October is the month of my wedding anniversary, and so it is usually a time for getting away from things like work and the computer. This year wasn't any different, although next year, our 20th, probably will be. I kept away from most things despite the fact that we stayed at home this year, but here I am doing this review. But it's not a big one.

I have been working on the covers for “The Return of the Sixpack” and “The Tale of the Comet.” I think these are all done now, so I have no excuses for not getting on with the text editing and formatting for “The Lost Girls.” So that's what I have been doing recently. In some ways it is tedious, and in other ways it is quite interesting. The tedious bit is sorting out the chapter headers, page numbering and odd and even headers. The interesting bit is rediscovering things in the story that I had forgotten. Sometimes I just want to read it instead of edit it.

One thing I have realised is that “The Return of the Sixpack” and “The Tale of the Comet” are both rather large, at just under 600 pages each. Although “The Tale of the Comet” can be comfortably spit into two parts, “The Return of the Sixpack” doesn't really lend itself to this. In fact this was originally the second part to “The Lost Girls.” I don't really want to have to split them, but they will be big books if published. I will just have to see how things work out.

Anyway, that's all for this month. See you next month.
