Music To Accompany The Lost Girls

Ashes Are Burning

The first song that I associate with the “The Lost Girls” is called “Ashes Are Burning” by a rock band called Renaissance. In “The Lost Girls” everyone soon realises that the past is far from dead, and that old technology still has the power to burn. The line “Your sins you won't remember” also brings to mind the period of compression that Soo-Kai approaches and that Kai-Tai has already entered.

The second song I associate with the story is “Fall” by Jasmine Ash. The lyrics seem to fit the story of the girls as they face life and growing up in a new and dangerous world. This song is also used on the Book Trailer for both “The Lost Girls” and “The Return Of The Sixpack.”

Renaissance Live At Carnegie Hall Shine

“Ashes Are Burning” was published a number of times, once on an album of the same name, where it was track 6, and also most notably in 1976 on the album “Renaissance Live At Carnegie Hall” (from HTD Records: HTD CD 40A). “Fall” is the first track on the album “Shine.”

If you decide to buy either of these three CD's try searching on Amazon.com or the usual search engines. If you want further information on Renaissance, try their original fan page at Northern Lights, or their website at Renaissancetouring.com, or again, try the usual search engines.

For your delectation you can play “Ashes Are Burning” on YouTube here. Be warned, its eleven minutes long! And (apart from playing the Book Trailer, which is only 30 seconds long) you can listen to the full track of “Fall” by playing the video on YouTube here. The lyrics of “Ashes Are Burning” and “Fall” are shown below.

Ashes Are Burning

Travel the days of freedom
Roads leading everywhere
Come with me now and show how you care

Follow the dying embers
Cross on the paths that they lay
Breath of the past the earths yesterday

Chorus:

Clear your mind maybe you will find
That the past is still turning
Circles sway echo yesterday
Ashes burning ashes burning

Colours are fading starlight
Silver the way to find
Walking the shadows, there in your mind

Changing the order slowly
Leaving the mist of time
Fingers are holding fragments of mine

Chorus

Imagine the burning embers
They glow below and above
Your sins you won't remember
And all you'll find there is love
Ashes are burning brightly
The smoke can be seen from afar
So now you're seeing how far
Ashes are burning the way
Ashes are burning the way

Fall

Fall away with me
When the road remains too steep
If you believe in me
Then that's what I believe

You are not alone
Sometimes you think you are sometimes
You are not alone
Some nights you think you are sometimes
You are not alone
I think you just might be surprised
You are not alone
Sometimes you think you are some nights

I stay awake for moments like these
When the world wants everything
And everything is all we can see
But everything is all we need

I am not alone
Sometimes you think you are sometimes
I am not alone
Some nights you think you are sometimes
I am not alone
I think you just might be surprised
I am not alone
Sometimes you think you are some nights

Fall away with me
I can help you to breathe
And you can help me to breathe
