December 2009 Christmas Review
And so this is Christmas, and what have I done? Another year over and “The Sullenfeld Oracle” still not begun...
I suppose I just have to accept that I am a lazy so-and-so. I just can't seem to sit down long enough to do serious writing. There is always something else more important. Like money, bills, relatives and other totally unimportant things that always seek your attention. The thing is I can sit and think about storylines and plots, I can even visualize events in my mind. I know what happens and how it ends, but I just can't face the chore of sitting down and writing it.
I think the fact that I have ten books for sale on Amazon.com and the ebook versions for many of them are on MobiPocket.com is quite a feat of accomplishment. However, the lack of sales and success for each title as they were written has taken its toll on my enthusiasm. And it isn't that people are unwilling to pay the high prices that trade paperbacks cost that is the only problem. You can read many of my books here for free, but how many of you find me? I am a very small tin-can floating in a vast ocean that is the internet. And even on Amazon.com you have to look for me to have any chance of finding me. At least I now have an Author Page, so if you find me once you can find all my books quickly.
Kindle is another problem. Because I am in the UK I can't get my books on Kindle, so I have to rely on them migrating accross from MobiPocket. But again, how do you find me? How do you find MobiPocket in the US? And if I do a bit of self-promoting on Amazon, this is frowned upon by some. I am not supposed to blow my own horn and yet there is no one else to blow it for me. Its all a bit draining on the original enthusiasm that writing and finishing a book provides. So why should I bother?
Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you next month for next year.
